5MCO 3000.11E
- Definitions Mission Essential Equipment
- Marine Corps Automated Readiness Evaluation
System (MARES) (MCO 3000.11E) - Mission Essential Equipment (MEE) are items of
equipment whose availability is essential and
indispensable for the execution of the mission of
the unit in support of a combatant commander.
Final decision for MEE lies with the Joint Staff
(J3). Items designated as MEE are of such
importance that they are subject to continuous
monitoring throughout DoD. MEE are a subgroup of
PEI. para 6.b.1-3, 7.a.1
6MCO 3000.11E
- Definitions Principal End Items
- Marine Corps Automated Readiness Evaluation
System (MARES) (MCO 3000.11E) - Principal End Items (PEI) are those items
that have been nominated by the MarFors,
supporting commands (MCCDCCDI), MCSC, MCLC).
The items selected are of sufficient range to
provide an adequate measure of overall equipment
status or capability for MarFors. To preclude
gross distortions of the equipment status
percentages, items whose serviceability/operationa
l capability undergo frequent inspection or which
can be readily replaced by the units first source
of supply are not reportable (i.e. rifles,
pistols, gas masks). Non-reparable items are
also excluded from MARES reporting. para
6.a.1-3, 7.a.1
7Bottom Line
- IAW CMC Planning Guidance
- to fulfill our promise to be most ready when
the nation is least ready. - We must
- Clearly define MEE/PEI
- Accurately capture USMC equipment readiness as an
indicator of force capability (i.e. Infantry Bn
TOW) - Justify equipment requirements for funding.
