INTRODUCTION TO OUR CREEK

• Upper Paint Creek lies on the edge of the
  Appalachian Plateau.
• The creek bears evidence of glacier activity.
• Another creek changed direction due to another
  glacier, cutting a gorge in the Upper Paint Creek
  State Park. The gorge bears Sullivantia, a rare
  wildflower in Ohio.

OBJECTIVE

• Our objective is to explain how urban activity
  and agriculture effects the habitat and organisms
  in Upper Paint Creek and to expand our knowledge
  on watersheds.

1ST HYPOTHESIS

• As the habitat condition (QHEI) increases the
  animal diversity increases also, so there
  are more fish (IBI).

2ND HYPOTHESIS

• As phosphorous increases the bugs (ICI) decrease

3RD HYPOTHESIS

• When biological oxygen demand (BOD) is lower
  then the bugs (ICI) are higher

CONCLUSION

• The majority of Upper Paint Creek has excellent
  water quality, bio diversity, meanders (turns),
  and riparian zones (vegetation around creek).
  Although, there are some minor problems with
  nutrient enrichment, ammonia, and other habitat
  alterations.
