Brief history of the project
  • In 19961997 the YaNAO Administration studied
    domestic and international experience of
    resources information management.
  • In November 1997 an open tender on creation of a
    hardware/software base was held in the Okrug,
    where Schlumberger company was acknowledged to
    be a winner.
  • The Tyumen company SibSAC was appointed to be a
    Data bank operator for data collection and
    loading .
  • 1998 - Design and delivery of the TDB
    hardware/software part

Brief history of the project
1999 - Putting into operation a data
collection/quality control centre
(Tyumen) and seismic data
transcription centre (Labythnangi).
Collection data 20 2000 - Opening of the
Territorial Data Bank in Salekhard.
Active expansion of data collection
infrastructure. Start of remote
collection data centres in Noyabrsk, Urengoi,
Tarko-Sale, Megion and Tyumen.
Collection data 50 2001 - Start-up of
Salekhard clients service. Creation of a
TDB duplicate (in Tyumen), aimed to
minimize data loss risks. Collection data

  • Reduction of the data to uniform digital formats
  • Expansion of services on service of the Clients

Problems at realization of the project
Data - collected for 40 years, more 50 in
analog forms - change of several generations
equipment and techniques - physical
deterioration - loss of the originals and
presence only of bad copies - dispersion
given on all territory former USSR Standardization
of the production data. Legal questions. Data
media - choice of the data media for long
storage (for example DLT IV more not
supported by StoregeTek)
Experience and lessons
Designing and realization of the large
information system. Search and collection data in
the large territory. Planning, start and support
of the local centres. Creation of qualifiers and
directories. Work with the large volumes of the
data (gt7 Tb).
