1 - Action Items for CG-5 (By Plenary of APT 2nd
Preparatory) - to develop a background position paper on
promoting e-health solutions particularly in the
rural areas -
- To develop a revised version of PP-02 Resolution
no. 129 (bridging the digital divide) to with a
focus on promoting NGN for the rural areas
- Australia to present draft revision of the
resolutions 25 (Strengthening the regional
presence) and 36 (Telecommunications in the
humanitarian assistance) as PACP proposals.
- To develop further Iranian proposal relating to
the ITU Telecom and Telecom Board for discussions
2Status of the Action Item1 Promoting e-health
solutions
- WTDC-06 adopted
- Res. 54 encompassing most of the e-services
including e-health - Study Question 14-2/2 relating to
Telecommunication for e-health - Includes Raising awareness, dissemination of
experiences and best - practices, encourage collaboration and
commitment between telecom - and health sector
- In view of the above it is felt no useful purpose
will be served by - Developing a fresh proposal
Members may like to support the Res. 54 and SQ
14-2/2 while WTDC-06 report being presented in
PP-06
3Status of the Action item 2 NGN for rural
communications
-A draft resolution on NGN for Rural
Communications as a Solution for the Digital
Divide submitted by Indonesia -The paper
captures most of the essential concerns of the
APT Regions for promoting NGN especially in the
rural areas. It is a potential candidate for PACP
Proposed action by APT members Members may like
to adopt the draft resolution as it is or with
modifications
4Status of the Action Item 3 Two potential PACP
submitted
- Revised version of PP-02-Res.25 on strengthening
the regional presence submitted by Australia
Proposed action by APT members The revised paper
focuses on strengthening the regional presence Of
ITU. Members may like to discuss the issue of
strengthening of the ITU Regional offices in the
backdrop of the fact that in some regions
the existing regional bodies are very active,
resources can be better utilized in the regions
where the regional organizations are not very
active
- Revised version of PP-02 Res.36
on(Telecommunications in the service of
Humanitarian Assistance) submitted by Pakistan
Members may like to consider it
5Status of the Action Item 4 ITU Telecom Board
and ITU Telecom
- Report of the ITU Council for the period 2003-05
- Draft Revised Res. 11 of PP-02 relating to Global
Telecommunication Exhibition and Forum presented
as a European Common Proposal - -Reflects two concerns
- - Distinction between Global and
Regional TELECOM to go - one/year (Global) alternate
between the different regions - - Composition and functioning of the
Board -
- Initial proposal from Iran
- Proposes ITU to outsource the exhibition and
forum task

- Vietnam has proposed to submit two fresh
proposals - One relating to NGN
- the other one
- Revised version of PP-02- Res.123 on Bridging
the Standardization Gap -
