People killed whilst at work. 299,000 Serious
injuries (broken bones, absence from work for 3
days, concussion etc) 2.1 Million people were
suffering from an illness they believed was
caused or made worse by their current work. 34

Responsibilities
Employers responsibility- Students are given
clear instruction on dos and donts at work and
make sure you are given any necessary training
i.e.. Fire procedure First Aid. Your
responsibility- Obeying those Instructions and
ask if you dont understand what you are meant to
do i.e.. no running at work, Employers
responsibility -To make sure that floors and
other surfaces are cleaned up properly. Your
Responsibility- To report any spills to your
employer.

Experience-Responsibilities
Employers responsibility-To supply proper
Protective Equipment such as hard hats. Your
responsibility -To wear the equipment and tell
the Employer if they dont fit properly, are
broken etc. Employers Responsibility- Make sure
that you are not expected to lift anything too
heavy ,and make sure that there is equipment and
guidance on what you are allowed to lift. Your
responsibility- To obey the guidance and not to
lift anything heavier than you think you can
safely lift.

will expect from you ?
To take reasonable care of your own Health and
Safety. To take reasonable care towards others
in my workplace - Act in a mature manner. To
cooperate with the Employer in any Health and
Safety measures they have put in place. To be
clear what you are and are not allowed to do, and
who you need to ask-You may be prohibited from
doing certain thinks like working from heights,
or using certain machinery. To be clear how to
use any Protective Equipment that you are given,
and know when to use it. i.e. hard hat ,gloves,
shoes, masks, overalls etc

To provide a safe work place. To provide a safe
means of access to the workplace-Including
keeping you and vehicles apart. To provide safe
systems of working. To provide the findings of
the companies Risk Assessment i.e.. what the
dangers to you are and what steps they have taken
to protect you from them. To protect staff from
unnecessary risk of Injury.

To explain to you where you can and cant go.-You
may not be allowed in certain areas, for instance
areas where vehicles are. To tell you what
Machinery you can and cannot use and ensure you
are trained on what you can use. To tell you
what to do in the event of a fire. To Tell you
what to do in the event of an accident.
