  • The reference table, with a focus on the phases
    and reference outcome indicators (see page 4 of
    the Technical Manual)

General Process...
  • Choose your Unit of Analysis (administrative area
    or livelihood zone)
  • Think about the period of validity (current and
    imminent)
  • Enter all relevant data, and use charts and
    tables to summarize evidence
  • Distinguish between direct and indirect evidence

Direct and Indirect Evidence
  • Direct evidence is data that directly measures
    the outcome reference indicator, and can
    therefore be compared to a given threshold
  • Indirect evidence is evidence that does not
    directly measure the reference outcome, and
    cannot be compared to a threshold.

Entering Data
  • Always include the source and date of the
    evidence
  • Score the reliability of the evidence (1 very
    reliable 2 somewhat reliable 3 unconfirmed.
  • Quality
  • Validity (shelf-life)
  • State when data is not available (dont leave a
    blank)
  • Counter evidence
  • Summary statements for complex indicators/
    evidence

  • Enter your data indicator by indicator, reading
    the User Guide and referring to the technical
    manual as you need to.
