- To tell you about consultation on the Charnwood
2026 Core Strategy - Consultation runs from 24th October until 5th
December - We want to know your views
3What is the Core Strategy?
- It sets the vision and strategy for the future
development of Charnwood up to 2026 - It plans significant growth
- It seeks to protect our environment and improve
the quality of life for all - It forms part of the Development Plan
- It guides public and private sector investment
decisions
4Process so far.
- Work started on the Core Strategy in 2004
- Collected a large amount of evidence
- Undertaken a number of consultations
- Regional Plan requiring many more houses in
Charnwood
5What are the Issues?
- Need to provide 10,000 more homes
- We need to maintain economic prosperity
- Traffic congestion remains a problem
- Whilst Charnwood is reasonably affluent there are
areas that are disadvantaged - We need to protect and enhance the natural and
built environment and heritage.
