A reset light maintains image quality
Continuously refreshes the detector to maintain
image quality and improve temporal resolution.

Flat detector How it works - a summery
Cesium Iodide Scintillator Needle like crystals
first convert the x-rays into light then pipe
the light to the photodiodes.
  • Thicker scintillator
  • Higher contrast resolution

Data Transfer
Images are read sequentially and
simultaneously The plate is divided in half and
each half is further divided into nine equal
sections Each of these sections are read
simultaneously, this takes 10 ms The retained
image on the plate is blanked prior to the next
image by means of a refresh light

SPIRIT image processing consists of -
  • Image Harmonization
  • Image harmonization diminishes the differences
between areas of the image that are too bright
compared to areas that are too dark.
  • Edge Enhancement
  • Edge enhancement highlights the differences
between adjacent picture elements, to sharpen the
    image of the coronary vessels.
  • Recursive filtering
  • Recursive filtering combines a sequence of images
acquired previously in the cardiac cycle to the
current image to improve overall image quality.

The values of the image harmonization, edge
enhancement and recursive filtering are service
customizable to suit the users preference or
taste.

Image harmonization
  • Diminishes the differences between areas of an
image that are too bright compared to areas that
    are too dark.

Edge enhancement
  • Highlights the differences between adjacent
picture elements, to sharpen an image

14
Recursive filtering
  • Combines a sequence of images acquired previously
in the cardiac cycle to the current image to
    improve overall image quality.

LAST IMAGE HOLD (LIH)
The changes in the Image processing have resulted
in a change to the appearance of the LIH Last
image hold is now a true representation of the
viewed fluoroscopic image. In that the recursive
filtration values are applied to the true last
image ! The resulting image is less noisy but
runs the risk that lag images will be seen.
