State of DØ
A lot of progress over the last few months
DØ is taking data Detector has steadily improved
over last few months All detectors are being read
out, some partially Online system works very
well Processing data offline
Good news
BUT
DØ is not complete and all missing elements are
in front end electronics/trigger and DAQ system.
Bad news
Eliminating these shortcomings will take several
months
What are the problems facing us.

New
All detector related activities are under one
person ensure cohesive and coherent approach
Goal idea
Oversees all Projects Operations in DØ Directs
the completion of Run 2a detector
Technical manager

Some notes and remarks
  • Boundaries between Run 2a and 2b are blurred
  • Within experiment no more separate Run 2a project

Installation was handled with certain approach
style Believe that this is the correct needed
approach to complete the Run 2a detector
( During installation impossible things were
accomplished.)

my opinion
Eliminating these shortcomings will take several
months

Summary
Taking data. Progress is excellent and
impressive Good first results BUT Several
critical trigger/DAQ systems incomplete Run II
has started we are late AFE, L2 and L3 are
obvious bottlenecks
Tevatron is slow in starting up ( lum lost is
small)
Addressing these problems in the most effective
way (management changes increased oversight)
Eliminating these shortcomings will take several
months
