Course Goals

• Identify candidate Web technologies to solve
  particular problems understand and explain
  issues and tradeoffs in choices of Web
  technologies.
• Identify common architectures used in Web
  development
• Develop storyboarding and navigation-design
  skills
• Develop basic lifecycle approach for project
  completion
• Create interactive Web sites of medium complexity
  using client-side and server-side programming
• Enhance interactive Web sites using basic
  database connectivity

• Basic Internet infrastructure and architectures
  (ex dns, protocols ex client-server, 3-tier)
• Storyboarding and navigational design
• Web page development (xhtml, css)
• Basic image development
• Client-side scripting (javascript)
• Server-side scripting (php)
• Basic database connectivity and data display (sql)

325 Sample Projects

• Develop a Review Web Site
• Individual project.
• Takes an incremental approach as semester
  progresses.
• Students choose any topic of interest to them,
  but all students have similar data model (so no
  database design skills needed).Database tables
  will be created in advance, students will
  populate with data.
• Students have free reign over design, but must
  include a minimum set of features (design and
  functionality).
