Nichole Doan East Final Concerts of the Year

Video Yearbook

• My first project was the video year book. What I
  was planning on doing was going to all the school
  events and filming everything. Then at the end of
  the year turn it into a video yearbook. Lots of
  events came up and we werent ready to film all
  of them. We didnt have a big enough team to get
  everything filmed and we didnt know how to edit
  footage. We were beginners taking on a way to
  challenging project. I didnt like the class any
  more it wasnt fun always being behind and not
  understanding programs to get the job done. so I
  thought It was time to get a new project one that
  I could do with my level of experience. At least
  this project gave me practice filming. We
  learned from trying this project to look over
  the whole project carefully before you start to
  see if its something you can handle.

Decisions

• I knew I had to get an easier project but I still
  wanted to film. So I was thinking it would be
  easier if we took one section of the video year
  book and just film that through out the year.
  Since Im in band I thought it would be easiest
  to film that section because I would know when
  and where all the concerts are. I also thought we
  would make a lot of money for east because lots
  of people go to the concerts and most of them
  would probably want to buy a video.

Concerts of the Year

• What we do is film instrumental, orchestra, and
  vocal concerts at EHS. We edit the footage, then
  sell. The money goes toward new equipment in the
  east lab.
• Our project serves the students in a musical
  program at EHS, their parents and anyone who
  comes to the concerts and likes what they see. If
  they want a video they just sign up at the
  concert and we make them a copy.
• We dont have a big enough team to film the
  concerts so we had to get some volunteers to help
  us film the concert.

• We learned how to edit the footage, put on
  credits and make copies of tapes. We called
  people who signed up they pay us and pick the
  tapes up.

progress
We found our connections to use the equipment,
that was Butch Bondi. He helped us set up but we
never quite learned how to set up by ourselves.
We filmed about 5 concerts this year but only
produced two of them. We learned how to use the
editing program and how to put credits on film.
For east we have made about 300.

Side Project
We did a project called HCAR its a Leisure
Companion Program. They needed someone to make
flyers for them and at that time concerts of
the year was going very slow so we volunteered to
help them out.. We had to learn how to use photo
shop so we could do this to the picture on the
flyer. We finished the flyer for them and they
were happy with it.

• My project goes under the theater arts because we
  film/video and electronic media
• English language arts, because it involves
  speaking and I spoke in lots of presentations
