BRAC Law, 2005

• All moves must be completed by September 15, 2011
• Arlington and Alexandria are loosing
  approximately 23,000 direct jobs
• Both jurisdictions are committed to a smooth
  transition for BRAC-impacted workers and
  businesses

• Relocating functions (Federal activity)
• Relocating personnel (and families)
• Non-relocating personnel
• Retiring personnel
• Affected small businesses and hospitality

Relocating Personnel

• Work with Scott AFB community and SDDC to
  facilitate transition and answer
• Who is relocating?
• When are they relocating?
• Are spouses and children relocating?
• Do spouses need employment assistance?
• Do families need school placement information?
• Do families need real-estate locating assistance?

Non-relocating Personnel

• Work with SDDC to
• Determine demographics of non-relocating
  population, including residence, commute
  patterns, educational levels
• Identify job industry and skill-sets
• Determine desire to remain in same job market or
  change to new one
• Identify and provide for job assistance
  needs/wants
• Inform of security clearance job opportunities in
  public and private industry
• Inform of entrepreneurship activities and
  opportunities
