Survey

• Survey the text that is assigned
• Look for words that are bold or highlighted-these
  are the important concepts in the reading.

Question

• Create a page for Cornell Notes.
• Write a question for each highlighted or bold
  word.

Read

• Read the assigned text.
• Look for answers to the questions you have
  written down.

Recite

• When you find an answer to one of the questions
  you have written down, stop to recite the answer.
• Write the answer in your notes.

Review

• After you have finished reading your section, you
  should have a complete set of Cornell Notes.
• Cover the answer column of your Cornell Notes and
  quiz yourself over the notes you have taken.
