In the beginning

• In 1901 Sarah Webb Pyle founded Peoples
  Settlement

Sarah Webb Pyle

• Sara Webb was born on 1869 in Wilmington,
  Delaware
• She died on March 4, 1959.

Sarah Webb Pyle School

• The Wilmington School board named what is now
  Sarah Webb Pyle middle school after her. The
  school was named for her before she died.

Mother of East Side

• She was known as the Mother of the East Side of
  Wilmington because of all of her good work.
• She Retired on 1952 and moved to Daytona Florida.

• They do community work for the east side of
  Wilmington
• They give food and clothes to the people in need
• They have a preschool program for the neighborhood

• They have a senior center
• They help find jobs and housing.

• They assisted the European immigrants to make the
  adjustments to their new homes.

Mission

• The mission of Peoples Settlement Association is
  to improve the quality of the life the residents
  of the east side of Wilmington.
