Develop Sustainable Involvement of Young
Professionals in the GTR
- OBJECTIVES
- Partner with the Tumen Secretariat, BAC, top
academic institutions, and leading private
companies to create programs and platforms to
encourage sustainable involvement of young
professionals worldwide in the GTI. - Focus on creating opportunities for young
professionals to contribute skills in their core
areas of expertise--business, financial, etc. - Establish paid fellowships, volunteer
opportunities. - PROJECTS
- GTR DEVELOPMENT FELLOWSHIP
- One-year paid fellowship in the GTR funded by
private sector and academic institutions targeted
at professionals with private sector experience. - Target students at top business/graduate schools
with economic development focus as well as
employees at leading companies seeking extended
leave of absence for public service.

Develop Sustainable Involvement of Young
Professionals in the GTR
- PROJECTS
- SUMMER GTR DEVELOPMENT FELLOWSHIP
- Ten-week paid summer fellowship in the GTR.
- Target talented business school students with
corporate, consulting, finance industry
experience. - CYL ONLINE VOLUNTEER NETWORK
- Establish international volunteer network of
young professionals to provide project specific
support. - Three hour mini-projects to be identified by
Tumen Secretariat and BAC. - Work with technology partners to provide social
networking, telecommunications, shared workspace.
52. Generate Increased Awareness of the GTI
- OBJECTIVES
- Partner with the Tumen Secretariat and BAC to
strengthen GTI brand. - Generate increased awareness of and greater
interest in the GTI in order to strengthen human
and financial capital available to the initiative
and GTR. - Organize speaker series, global conference calls
publish a quarterly newsletter create BAC and
CYL websites. - PROJECTS
- INTERNATIONAL SPEAKER SERIES
- GTI speaker series featuring UN, private sector,
academic speakers. - Formal presentations and informal dinner events
to be held around the world. - GLOBAL CONFERENCE CALLS
- Global conference calls on GTI general
information, specific projects, progress updates. - Recorded calls to be made available on BAC and
CYL websites.
62. Generate Increased Awareness of the GTI

- GTI NEWSLETTER
- Coordinate, write, publish quarterly electronic
newsletter featuring GTR research, project
updates, opportunities for GTI/CYL involvement,
event calendar. - WEBSITE AND SOCIAL NETWORKING
- CYL website to serve as hub for young
professionals to learn about GTI, volunteer to
help with specific projects, discuss topics
relevant to the region, and access newsletters
and conference call recordings. -
- UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE SCHOOL ALLIANCES
- Alliances with undergraduate/graduate
institutions to build greater GTI awareness. - PRIVATE SECTOR ALLIANCES AND RECRUITING EVENTS
- Create opportunities for firms to facilitate and
fund externships to join the Tumen Secretariat or
a GTR company. - Organize recruiting events such as GTR Career
Fairs around the world.
73. Promote Investment in the GTR
- OBJECTIVES
- Partner with the Tumen Secretariat and BAC to
increase investors understanding of the value
proposition of investing in the region and help
facilitate investments by linking investors with
existing opportunities in the region. - Work with the global investment community to
understand, address, resolve impediments to
investing in the region. - Partner with financial institutions and local
investors to increase the availability of
microfinance in the region. - PROJECTS
- GLOBAL INVESTMENT ROADSHOW
- Non-deal GTI investment roadshows around the
world. - Modeled on investment bank roadshows conducted
for clients in preparation for equity/bond
offerings.
83. Promote Investment in the GTR
- PROJECTS
- INVEST IN GREATER TUMEN OFFICE
- Form and launch Invest in Greater Tumen office
modeled on the Irish governments one-stop
investment office. - Create investor-friendly working environment by
streamlining administrative/bureaucratic hurdles
to establishing/running GTR businesses. - GTI MICROFINANCE FUND
- Launch GTI Microfinance Fund seek investors and
fund administrators. - Fund to also provide advisory services to loan
recipients on how to start and run small business
enterprises. - INVESTMENT IDEAS INCUBATOR
- Monthly workshops to brainstorm potential
investment ideas for GTR. - Formalize ideas generated from incubator to
well-researched investment proposals.
94. Encourage Tourism in the GTR
- OBJECTIVES
- Partner with the Tumen Secretariat, BAC, and GTI
Tourism Council to encourage tourism in the
region. - Generate increased awareness of the GTR as an
attractive tourist destination. - Help create a travel guide, single tourist visa,
alliances with NGOs on voluntourism. - PROJECTS
- TRAVEL GUIDE FOR THE GTR
- Partner with travel companies and tourist boards
to create travel guides for the region. - Create marketing strategy for travel guide
distribution.
104. Encourage Tourism in the GTR
- PROJECTS
- VOLUNTOURISM OPPORTUNITIES
- Work with NGOs to organize voluntourism trips in
which participants would execute projects for the
development of communities or participate in
scientific field research. - Participants to raise money in advance of trip
private sector sponsorship. - SINGLE ENTRY TOURIST VISA
- Help create single tourist visa for the GTR.
- SUMMER EXCHANGE LANGUAGE PROGRAM
- Exchange program for students to travel to the
GTR and train GTR students to become
English-speaking tour guides. - GTR students to have opportunity to travel to
US/Europe to learn English from host families.
11CYL Next Steps
- Formally launch greater CYL in a global
conference call in April 2008. - Appoint/elect project leaders for CYL projects in
order to begin implementing CYL business plan. - Seek financial aid from private sector companies,
academic institutions, and other organizations to
support specific projects as well as fund a
full-time fellow/intern to help implement the CYL
business plan. - Identify academic and business partners,
fellowship sponsors, private sector sponsors.
