What do charities raise money for?

• Researching treatments and cures for people with
  serious illnesses
• Helping people who are poor
• Helping people who have been neglected or hurt
• Protecting the environment
• Supporting people who are ill or have
  disabilities
• Looking after sick or unwanted animals
• Helping the victims of natural disasters
• Promoting education
• Providing emergency services

How do they do this?

• Cancer research charities such as Breast Cancer
  Campaign fund approximately one third of all
  health and medical research in the UK
• It is therefore important that the charities can
  keep raising money to pay for this research

How can you help?

• Run a race and get people to sponsor you
• Sponsored events such as silences, cycle rides,
  swims or walks
• Give your loose change to people collecting in
  the street or supermarket
• Collect your loose change at home or school and
  donate it to charity
• Hold a sale and give the money you raise to
  charity
• Organise an event such as a concert, quiz or fun
  day
• Have a non-uniform day at school and pay to take
  part

  Campaign by wearing pink and donating money to
