It's as good as going into the office, because
you have traffic, you have parking and she's
right there. You know, if they can do this for
different sicknesses and problems where people
are home, I think that they would feel some of
the same encouragement as if they went in to see
the doctor. It's done that for me

Jim

That feeling of someone's there and is listening.
I haven't had to go through all the area of
trying to get to the doctor, go through the
traffic, park and all of that. Now I know that
is important too, that you see a person face to
face, but I have felt that real confidence - I
really feel like I know Diane

Interviewer What have you thought about your
experience with the project? Helen Total plus,
plus, plus. First thing is personal motivation.
Its something--the program is kind of a
self-competition in that I have access to this
information. I can tell what's happening with my
blood sugars. I'm monitoring my diet. And I can
look at .

Some of the things I've learned is the need for
personal discipline and I didnt have -- of doing
my blood sugar test or my percent glucose test
every day, doing it three times a day, finally,
in order to start looking at how the food I ate
and when and my activities, how it affected my
blood sugar

Helen

I honestly had never looked at it that carefully.
I had never participated in any type of
education about the nutrition and blood sugar
management other than I think two visits to a
nutritionist when I was first diagnosed.
