  • When I think about Rural Kentucky, I think about
the little country churches and the history of
each soul that stands behind them. I think about
the farms and the farmers, the wife and children,
and how hard they work from year to year. I
think about our past history and todays
moderations. I think about the land and the game
that provides recreation and food supply for
many. I see Kentucky as a beautiful place with
down to earth people who enjoy the simple life.

  • When I think of rural Kentucky, I think of
Paintsville Lake. I didnt grow up in eastern
Kentucky, but have spent a lot of time in
    Paintsville and on this lake.

  • I have never seen something more beautiful than
some of the open woodland areas in rural
Kentucky. It is so beautiful and green (blue
grass). I have never felt so much at peace and
complete tranquility as I do in the woods in
rural Kentucky. I often picture very open space
when I think of rural Kentucky. I also may think
of farmland and abandoned barns and/or farm
houses, which I think just adds to the rustic and
    calming feeling of rural Kentucky

7
I picture rural Kentucky as winding roads, green
trees, sunlight and showers, families. The photo
is one I took last summer on the road that leads
up to my house in Grahn.

  • When I think of rural Kentucky this is exactly
what comes to my mind. Having been born and
raised in Kentucky I love the mountains, farm
land, and of course the horses. I think of a nice
big farm house with some beautiful scenery around
    it.

9
How do you picture rural Kentucky? When I
picture rural Kentucky I think of the land. I
picture mountains, woods, hills, lakes, streams,
farmland, and valleys. I think this is what
makes our state so unique the diverse lay of the
land. Photo source flickr.com

When I think of Kentucky these are the
types of images that come into my mind. Lavish
rolling hills, beautiful scenery, and the
glorious horses that can be seen in many
different parts of Kentucky. I think of Kentucky
as a place where the earth can be revisited, a
place where one can go to explore some of the
wonderful things that nature has to offer.John

This old post card says Hauling gas pipe in
Lewis County, Vanceburg, Ky. There is no date on
the post card but the first pipe line in the
county was laid in the very early 1900s, so that
is probably the time period of this card. Printed
on the back of the card is Kraemer Art Co.
Cincinnati, Berlin. Printed in Germany. (Courtesy

Kentucky has about 13 covered bridges,
ranging in condition from poor to substantial.
Lewis County has one of these covered bridges on
Cabin Creek. The bridge is deteriorating rapidly
from both weather and vandalism. This old
landmark, built in 1875, must be preserved and
rescued before it goes beyond redemption
