Review of Cadre Policy of EDP centres
  • Need for change in the designation of
    Sr.EDPM/EDPM as Sr.IT Manager/IT Manager due to
    changed scenario.
  • Gazetted Cadre position and Policy review

  • Sr.EDPM - Work charged operated at HQ/UBL since
    Aug-2008.
  • The formation of cadre as per new cadre policy -
    status
  • No posts are operated. Staff are utilised from
    Accounts and Personnel department for each units

The future role of EDP Centres as IT-enabler in
the Railways
  • Road map for short term, medium and long-term IT
    infusion in the working of Railway
  • Officials with IT background and interest should
    be assigned IT related job of their department
    and should be given incentives.
  • Coordinating role of EDP Centre in these
    activities
  • EDP Centre shall act as a nodal organization.
  • Integration of data from ongoing applications
    like FOIS, CREW Management Software.
  • Since, FOIS has been implemented over 17
    locations in this Railway and RRs are being
    issued through TMS. CAO/FOIS and GM/CRIS were
    approached for modifying the existing FOIS
    software to enable Zonal Railways to directly
    upload the RR details for greater accuracy and
    elimination of data entry.
  • Taking advantage of out-side developments in the
    IT field and adopting them in Railway working
  • The Railnet facilities and Corporate Mailing and
    Messaging shall be strengthened on par with the
    industry.

for EDP centres to effectively serve as a tool of
IT catalyst
  • Manning of Sr.EDPM post

  • Engagement of professionals from market

  • Coordinating role in development of integrated
    software for use in the zonal Railway
  • A general frame work/platform shall be suggested
    by Railway Board and the Zonal Railways shall be
    allowed to develop applications within the
    framework.
  • Powers of work in PH-17
  • Existing system is satisfactory. However, more
    powers shall be delegated to Divisional Level for
    procurement of P.Cs/related infrastructure and
    development of Software. Enhancement of
    procurement of powers to PHOD/HOD for
    infrastructure/PC or replacement/Additional
    account.
