Title: QURAN
1QURAN THE DEVELOPMENT OF HUMAN CAPITAL
2Let us improve our piety (taqwa) and good deeds
by obeying Allahs entire commands and omitting
all the forbidden.
3Blessed Muslims, Today our discussion will
revolve around the topic of Al-Quran and how it
develops outstanding personalities and human
capital. This is because, Al-Quran is the words
of Allah and indeed, His knowledge encompasses
His creations and beyond.
4Allah s.w.t says Do they not ponder on the
Quran (with care)? Had it been from other than
Allah, they would surely have found therein much
discrepancy. (An-Nisa verse 82)
5Mankind is responsible to hold tightly to His
Book i.e. the Quran, and accept it as a guidance
in their lives in order to become an excellent
Ummah. As Allah s.w.t says in Al-Quran
6And this is a Book which We have revealed as a
blessing so follow it and be righteous, that ye
may receive mercy.
(Al-Anam verse 155)
7Blessed Muslims, Historically, Al-Quran was
brought down to earth thousands of years ago to
Prophet Muhammad s.a.w on the 17th of Ramadhan
and the revelation began with the verse of Iqra
(the first 5 ayaat of surah Al-Alaq).
8The revelation of Al-Quran established a new way
of life and consequently, a human civilization
specifically in the land where Rasulullah s.a.w.
resided. The life of ignorance and oppression was
replaced with life of civil and ethics.
9The wisdom and the teachings of Rasulullah s.a.w
at that time became something precious and most
awaited for amongst the Ummah in their quests for
a meaningful and perfect life in this world.
10Because of this, they refused to miss the
opportunity of being guided, thus accepted the
Quran and its teachings, and strived hard to
perform everything in the most perfect and
beautiful manner.
11Our Rasul s.a.w., his companions and those who
followed them were very diligent and patient in
performing their tasks that they succeed in what
they do, including in the field of defense,
business and agriculture.
12Blessed Muslims,Al-Quran enhanced the quality
of life at that time, and therefore human
capital, in a way that was previously unheard of.
It does this through developing human manners and
ethics.
13The Quranic manners of Rasulullah s.a.w., if
truly and thoroughly practiced, will bring out
the best in mankind. Through these training,
Muslim scholars such as Ibnu Khaldun who was a
sociologist and historian,
14Al-Khwarizmy who mastered astronomy and
mathematic, Ibnu Sina who mastered the field of
medicine and Al-Biruni who was an expert in
geology and physics were produced.
15However, these success stories and great
civilization built by our predecessors are only
history for us. None of these legacies is part of
todays Muslims. Now, everything is adopted and
adapted from the development and the civilization
of the Westerners,
16merely because we are too occupied with conflicts
and fights between ourselves, between races,
tribes and nations, instead of developing them.
17Therefore, let us rebuild our confidence in the
Quran so that we can generate the same level of
spiritual and physical strengths as when Islam
thrives once upon a time.
18We know that our predecessors great success in
building a civilization was because of their
excellent human capital in many aspects,
including economy, social and politic.
19Be assured that this victory is impossible if we
forget the reminders from Allah as stated in the
Quran, when He mentions that He made us
responsible for the upholding of the peace and
justice in this world,
20and that He places one nation above another as a
test for us so that we obey and submit to Him and
thank Him for the bounties He bestows on us.
Allah s.w.t says
21It is He who had made you (His) agents,
inheritors of the earth He had raised you in
ranks some above others that he may try you in
the gifts He had given you for the Lord is quick
in punishment yet He is indeed Oft-Forgiving,
Most Merciful.
(Al-AnAm verse 165)
22Indeed those are powerful reminders from Allah
s.w.t. He informs us, from the beginning, that
those who fulfill His commands with loyalty will
attain the best of rewards, unlike those who
disobey His orders.
23One of the core factors closely related to human
development is the ability to increase ones
knowledge, creativity and innovation and to have
a positive mindset. These abilities depends on
ones intellectual capacity, and most
importantly, ones personality. At the same time,
it is imperative that we stress on developing a
society equipped with healthy culture and strong
morale.
24Blessed Muslims, The Quran clearly explains how
the Muslims have to equipped themselves with
knowledge and eeman (belief in Allah).
25A person with knowledge means that he have the
knowledge of the Fardhu Ain (personal
obligations) and Fardhu Kifayah (communal
obligations). Allah s.w.t says in Al-Quran
26O ye who believe! When ye are told to make room
in the assemblies, (spread out and) make room
(ample) room will Allah provide for you. And when
ye are told to rise up rise up Allah will raise
up, to (suitable) ranks (and degrees),
27those of you who believe and who have been
granted Knowledge and Allah is well-acquainted
with all you do.
(Al-Mujadalah verse 11)
28The Quran also explains how good and beautiful
manners are obligatory upon us, as taught and
shown by Rasulullah s.a.w. Good manners are the
core that builds the strength of ones
characters. Without good manners, our generations
and nations will weaken and collapse.
29The advancement of a nation is useless against a
generation without beautiful and good manners and
self-integrity. Allah s.w.t says And truly that
you (O Muhammad) have noble manners.
30These are among the reminders in Al-Quran that
serve to motivate and produce excellent Muslims
with good and beautiful manners. It is a group of
elite whom we will trust to develop our Ummah,
nation and country by the mercy and blessings of
Allah s.w.t.
31It is needless to mention that our country,
Malaysia, is in dire need of Muslims who are
charismatic, possess beautiful characters and
strong Islamic understanding, not those who
destroy the hope of Islam, our nation and
country.
32But if they hearken not to thee, know that they
only follow their own lusts and who is more
astray than one who follows his own lusts, devoid
of guidance from Allah? For Allah guides are not
for wrongdoing people.
(Al-Qasas verse 50)

34- O Allah,
- The most merciful god, we thank you for all the
mercy and pleasure that you gave so that we can
enhance and strengthen our Islamic country
especially Selangor as a developed and peaceful
country.
35- O Allah,
- We beg you to increase our practice, brace up our
unity, give us prosperous life, make us rich with
good knowledge, flourish our soul with noble
character, bring back our youngsters to the right
path, save us from your biggest test such
36- as huge flood, drought, epidemic, disputing
between ourselves, poorness and anything else so
that this country will be more prosperous and
blessed.
