- Job Description
- Describes the job. In particular the duties
responsibilities of the post-holder.
- Person Specification
- Describes the skills/abilities, knowledge
experience that the post holder will need to have.
The application form Needs to be completed using
the JD Person Specification as a
reference Examples need to be provided of how you
meet the criteria asked for in PS

- What have you done in your past employment
relevant to this role? - What do you do outside of work that could be
considered as relevant? - Again, ask friends, colleagues, line management
for their view - Example The role you are applying for requires
experience of supervising others your current
role does not carry this responsibility.have you
ever undertaken to help out with the local youth
football team?

- What do you know relevant to the role.?
- What have you done relevant to the role.?
- What is your understanding of the role.?
- If there are gaps in knowledge how would you
improve this.? - Again, think outside of the box.
- Example Your current role might not involve
managing a budget.. Every month you get paid and
have to pay bills.. Save for a holiday etc.

than you might think - Example The person spec might be asking for

Next steps (after your application has been
received)
- A selection panel will review all applications
- Produce a shortlist of candidates to take forward
- Candidates going forward could either be invited
- Straight to interview
- To undertake a selection test followed by an
interview

Interviews
- The panel will be asking questions (based on
criteria contained in the PS) to select the best
candidate. - The same questions will be used for all
candidates. - A model answer for each question will have been
crafted in advance of the interviews. - Candidate responses to the questions will be
scored against the model answer.

Interview Tips
- Prepare well read the JD PS thoroughly
- Think of how you can provide an example to meet
each of the criteria on the person spec - Where you have no relevant knowledge, experience
or skill relating to a particular criteria tell
the panel what you are prepared to do about it
