Contemporary Leonardos Sidney R. Nagel
A new temporary exhibit on Leonardo DaVinci at
the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago
highlights his work and genius and features
specially commissioned prototypes of his
inventions. Part of this exhibit describe the
work of Modern-Day Leonardoscontemporary artists
and scientists displaying unusual creativity in
the spirit of DaVinci. Profiles of our current
and former Directors, Sidney Nagel and Heinrich
Jaeger were included in this special section. A
brief biography of each was on display,
highlighting their areas of scientific interest,
and representative samples of their research.
These included replicas of our MRSECs classical
experiment on the fission of water droplets, and
a movie illustrating the dynamics of granular
phenomenon were included in this exhibit.
Timed to coincide with the release of the
blockbuster movie, The DaVinci Code, this
exceptional exhibit drew over 199,000
visitorsmany of them school groups from the
Chicagoland area.
