Need to Know
  • Ejection seat aircraft limitations - If you
    weigh less than 100lbs or greater than 235lbs you
    will not fly
  • an ejection seat aircraft. No
    waivers.
  • Anthropometric limitations
  • - Not eligible if shorter than 62 or taller
    than 77 inches (Naval medicine is debating a
    change to 74)
  • Pass the Aviation Selection Test Battery written
    exam. A 1 point waiver is possible following the
    second attempt (OCC) and the third attempt (PLC).
  • Must have 20/40 vision correctable to 20/20
    (SNA). PRK, LASEK, and epi-LASIK are possible
    corrective surgeries. LASIK is disqualifying.

Introductory Flight Screening (IFS)
  • IFS is a requirement prior to beginning flight
    school.
  • N/A for those with an FAA rating.
  • It will be done after commissioning either just
    before or just after The Basic School.
  • It will either be done in Quantico, VA or
    Pensacola, FL
  • Requirements
  • - Complete 24-25 hours of flying in 50 days
  • - Solo before 13.5 hours and 33 days
  • - Must complete within 50 days

    not have any boring aircraft.
  • Closer ties with ground side (The Basic School).
  • We provide better support to the Marine on the
    ground because we understand them.
  • More flexible - more missions.
  • Flight leads have greater responsibility and
    authority.
  • We are Marines who happen to be pilots, not
    pilots who happen to be Marines!
