Using Technology in the Inclusive Setting
  • How do we use technology to include children with
disabilities in the general education curriculum?
  • How do we include students in class
    discussions/participation?

Alexandria Country Day School Activities
Field Research with wearable computers forms the
basis of the innovative FieldQuestLive program
for middle school student teams
10
Alexandria Country Day School Activities
Students webcast a learning module of their own
design from a site of historical or cultural
significance in their region to middle school
peers around the country and around the world

Future Directions
  • Continue to explore the use of portable computers
    for specific students with disabilities
  • Expand to general education science students in
    the "field
  • Students can create content in the field create
    a constructivist learning environment
  • Portable computers allow the students to bring
    the technology with them
  • Lead to an increase in the amount of time that a
student with disabilities can be included in the
general education setting and open new avenues to
    self-dependency
  • Bring the outside world inside, and
    computers/technology outside
