Title: CLINICAL EVALUATION

1
CLINICAL EVALUATION
2
Evaluation Overview
  • 79 patients monitored over 30 day evaluation
    period
  • Pre- and post-weights monitored and adjusted
    using blood volume monitoring
  • Provide asymptomatic treatments for all patients
  • Blood pressure medications adjusted or
    discontinued

3
Patient Weight Changes
51 patients lost weight (avg -2.8 kgs)
18 patients no weight change
10 patients gained weight (avg 1.5 kgs)
4
Changes in Profiles
5
Significant Changes
  • Blood pressure
  • 30 patients had blood pressure drops of 20 points
or more (either systolic or diastolic)
  • 49 patients had blood pressure drops of 10 points
or more (either systolic or diastolic)
  • 24 patients are identified as needing their blood
pressure medications changed or reduced at the
    end of the evaluation
  • O2 saturation
  • 23 patients were identified as having a drop in
    their O2 saturation
  • 15 patients with a drop in O2 also experienced
    morbid events

6
Changes in Blood Pressure
7
Changes in Blood Pressure
  • Average Pre Systolic change -9.6
  • Average Pre Diastolic change -7.2
  • Average Post Systolic change -12.5
  • Average Post Diastolic change -6.7

8
Hospitalizations
  • Potential for 1027 dialysis treatments during the
    30 day evaluation
  • 975 treatments completed 52 dialysis treatment
    days lost to hospitalizations
  • 0 treatment days lost due to fluid related events
  • 7 treatment days lost due to access related
    events
  • 45 treatment days lost due to other related events

9
Morbid Events
10
Significant Changes
  • Morbid events
  • 975 dialysis runs completed only
  • 122 hypotensive events
  • 99 episodes of cramping
  • 5 episodes of nausea and vomiting
  • 159 administration of normal saline
  • 0 episode of dizziness

11
Significant Changes
  • Crit-Line monitor provides continuous real time
    hematocrit monitoring
  • One patient identified with a GI Bleed
  • Two patients receiving blood transfusions,
confirming ending HCT results from transfusion

Staff Comments
  • Physician
  • The Crit-Line has made an impact on my patient
care. Since using the product I havent had any
    admissions for fluid overload events
  • Nursing
  • I dont seem to have to give any saline for
    volume support like previous treatments.
  • The patients seem to have less problems, and it
    makes my day easier.
  • I feel more comfortable in taking off 7 or 8 kgs
with the Crit-Line. I would never have tried for
so much fluid without the aid of the monitor.
  • We had a patient who was in the hospital and
since coming out and using the Crit-Line, he now
is almost 30 pounds lighter. Never would I have
believed it possible, but hes doing great.

Summary
  • Achieve more accurate dry weights
  • Clinician can adjust or reduce blood pressure
    medications per new dry weights
  • Reduces patient morbid events
  • Hematocrit management
  • Identify and treat intradialytic hypoxia
