• Here are some tips to help you save energy in
  your home.

To do Today

• Turn down the temperature of your water heater to
  the warm setting (120oF).
• Start using energy-saving setting on
  refrigerators, dishwashers, washing machines, and
  clothes dryers.
• Replace incandescent lights with compact
  fluorescents.
• Clean the filters in the air conditioner,
  furnace, or heat-pump.
• If you have a fireplace, keep your damper closed
  unless a fire is going.

To do in the Future

• Crawl into your attic or crawl space and check
  your insulation.
• Install a clock thermostat to set your thermostat
  back automatically at night or during the day
  when you are not home.
• Schedule an energy audit (ask your utility
  company) for more expert advice on your home as a
  whole.
• Check your major appliances. You may want to
  replace them with a more energy-efficient model.
