        I.     The Presidents Roles-the seven
roles are in the Constitution
  • Chief Executive-head of the executive branch.
  • Commander in Chief-commands all military
    officers.
  • Chief Agenda Setter-responsible for giving
    Congress information.

  • Representative of the Nation-represents all of
    the people.
  • Chief of State-represents the nation when meeting
    w/ foreign leaders.

  • Foreign-Policy Leader-oversees the nations
    foreign policy.
  • Party Leader-makes speeches to help other party
    members.

II. Presidents Qualifications
  • Must be a native-born U.S. citizen
  • Must be at least 35 years of age
  • Must have been a U.S. resident for at least 14
    years.

  • Presidential Background-all of the presidents
    have been white males.
  • Terms-in 1951 the 22nd Amendment created the
    two-term limit.
  • Salary-the president earns 200k/year.
  • Benefits-50,000 a year for expenses.

  • In 1967, the 25th Amendment states the line of
    succession.
  • Presidential Succession-if the president dies,
    resigns or is removed from office the vice
    president becomes president.

    ministers, and judges.
