26What do I do during breaks?
- A break is when you break into format/music to
talk, play underwriting, promos, PSAs, etc. - While we dont have a standard format for breaks,
we do have guidelines to assist you as you are
learning how to be a dj
27Break Guidelines
- A typical break proceeds this way
- Coming out of music, back announce all music that
was played since the last break - Plug/fore announce a few tunes coming up in the
next set of music if youre giving away tickets,
etc., mention that too! - Read Live Copy
- Play underwriting, promos, PSAs from the
automation system - Use a shotgun or live drop to go back into music
28Break guidelines
- Pay attention! Dont let the underwriting,
promos and PSAs play before you talk automation
system should be in manual - Dont forget to ID the station somewhere in your
patter - Music patter should come first--dont make your
listeners wait for it
29Back/Fore Announcing
- One of the biggest gripes radio listeners have is
that announcers dont tell them what songs they
have just played - Tell your listeners what you have just
playedback announcing all songs aired in set
and fore announcing a few artists/songs coming up
30KTSW Live Copy
- The Scotts Studios SS32 automation system allows
us to post Live Copy that can be brought up on
