HAT Core
  • The essentials of all High Adventure treks
  • Taught twice a year, January and September
  • Covers common skills and techniques required for
    any High Adventure Activity.

Basic Backpacking
  • Skills and techniques for planning and leading
    backpacking treks.
  • Course topics cover material specific to
    backpacking activities
  • One day of indoor training, one weekend outdoor
    practical

Climbing
  • A certificate of training as a BSA Climbing
    Instructor good for 2 years and a letter that
    authorizes you to be a Climb on Safely Instructor
    good for 1 year will be issued to adults upon
    successful completion of the course.
  • One evening of indoor training, one weekend
    practical, one evening followup

  • Covers skills and techniques for planning and
    leading a successful cycling outing.
  • One evening indoor, one weekend outdoor
    practical.

Wilderness First Aid
  • Recognize and avoid wilderness hazards and do
    first aid outdoors in remote environments.
  • Wilderness First Aid Certification by the
    American Safety Health Institute valid for 3
    years.
  • This course is open to all registered Scouts
    (13 and First Class) and Scouters.
  • Two-day (one weekend) course

  • Where can you go with WFA?
  • Anywhere.
  • Required for BSA High Adventure Bases
  • Do you really want to be three days away from the
    road with two band-aids and a bottle of tylenol?

CPR
  • CPR Certification by the American Red Cross
  • is valid for 2 years
  • Separate from WFA, usually preceding Friday night
  • Open to all registered Scouts (15 and First
    Class) and Scouters.
