What do I need in my Creative Writing?

• Stories must have at least 2 characters.
• It must be 1 page, 12pt font, Times, double
  spaced.
• Each new paragraph must be indented.
• Your Story should have a title, and your name
  on each page.
• Stories must be told in chronological order.

Elements of a Short StoryHow to make a short
story?

• First you need an idea!
• Write a short story about a kid and his
  suspicions about the next door neighbor, a tall
  pale guy with weird eyes and hair.
• Write a horror story that centers around the
  family photo album
• Write a story in which a ghost serves as your
  main character.
•  Write about a mysterious house.
• Or make your Own idea!
• Then you need to brainstorm all the elements of a
  short story.
• Setting, Plot, Conflict, Characters and Theme

Setting

• The setting is the time and the location of the
  story.
• THINGS TO THINK ABOUT
• place - geographical location.  Where is the
  action of the story taking place?
• time - When is the story taking place?
  (historical period, time of day, year, etc)
• weather conditions - Is it rainy, sunny, stormy,
  etc?
• Ms. Cherrys story setting
• Place- No Name, New Mexico
• Time- 2025
• Sunny School day

Plot

• The plot is a planned, logical series of events
  having a beginning, middle, and end. 
• Your plot should include
• Introduction - The beginning of the story where
  the characters and the setting is revealed
• At least 2 events that help develop or show the
  problem of the story
• Climax the point where the reader wants to know
  what comes next
• Falling action what happens to resolve or fix
  the problem
• Resolution- This is the final outcome or
  untangling of events in the story.

Characters

• The characters are the people who are in your
  story. They are the people that your story is
  about
• THINGS YOU SHOULD INCLUDE
• Name
• What they look like
• What they says, thinks, feels and dreams

Conflict

• The conflict is the problem of the story, the
  reason that the story has been written.
• Your story will tell about the problem and work
  to resolve or fix the problem
• Ms. Cherrys story Problem
• The McDavies children think that their new
  friends wont accept them because their parents
  are so weird

Theme

• The theme is the main idea that the writer is
  trying to tell his/her readers.
• Some common main ideas are
• things are not always as they appear to be
• Love is blind
• Believe in yourself
• People are afraid of change
• Don't judge a book by its cover
