Policy background
  • Rapidly developing area of policy. Greater
    priority attached to supporting parents and
    families with increased resources for services.
  • Childrens Trusts should strategically commission
    a continuum of services which meet the various
    needs of their local populations
  • Plans often set out in local area Parenting
    Strategy and led by the local Parenting
    Commissioner.
  • Service design and delivery needs to be based on
    robust assessment of needs. Vulnerable parents
    and families should receive special attention.
  • Strong partnerships key to success working
    across service silos and addressing whole family
    needs.
  • Commissioning of services needs to be outcomes
    based. Parenting programmes in particular should
    be evidence based.
