deemed essential for - proper and safe functioning of radiocommunication
services - enhancing the safety of life.
- Obligatory to certain classes of ship radio
stations. - Administrations - have an obligation to ensure
compliance - Two types of service documents
- Those related to maritime mobile and maritime
mobilesatellite service (MSD) - others, not related to maritime mobile service
(N-MSD).

4- MSD - List of Coast Stations - List IV
- Periodicity
- Published every two years
- kept up-to-date by means of three, semi-annual
supplements. - CARRIAGE REQUIREMENT
- on board ships with Morse radiotelegraph
installation - On board GMDSS ships.
- The information provided enables ship stations
- 1) to establish and maintain communications with
coast stations - 2) to identify appropriate GMDSS stations,
in case of distress.

- Information provided
- call sign
- selective call number and MMSI
- hours of operation
- frequencies in use
- type and classes of emissions
- hours of traffic lists and watch-keeping
- etc.

- Particulars of stations participating in GMDSS
- MF, HF and VHF Digital Selective Calling
- Coast Earth Stations
- Stations broadcasting Maritime Safety Information
(MSI) including those of NAVTEX service.

- Periodicity
- Published annually
- kept up-to-date by means of two quarterly
supplements in addition to a half-yearly
recapitulative supplement. - Carriage Obligation
- Ships fitted with radio telegraph installation
- Ships fitted for GMDSS.
8- MSD - List of of Ship Stations - List V
- Information provided
- Identification of stations (Ship name, Call
sign, Selective call numbers, MMSI) - Auxiliary information - (EPIRB, SART and life

Services Stations (List VI)
- Periodicity
- This List is published at intervals determined by
the Secretary-General - Normally every three and a half years and kept up
to date by supplements published every six
months. - Carriage Obligation
- to ship stations for which a Morse
radio-telegraph installation is required by
international agreement.
10- MSD - List of Radiodetermination and Special
Services Stations (List VI)
- Particulars of stations used for maritime
radio-navigation and of stations providing
special transmissions for use by ship and other
stations. - Information provided
- Direction finding and DF calibration stations
- Radio beacons and radar beacons stations
11- MSD - List of Radiodetermination and Special
Services Stations (List VI)
- Stations transmitting time and standard
frequencies - Stations transmitting Ursigrams (bulletin about
solar activities and the ionosphere) - Stations transmitting regular meteorological
bulletin and notices to mariners - Stations transmitting medical advice.

Identities of Stations Used by Maritime Mobile

- This List complements the List of ship stations
and the previously mentioned Lists. - Is of particular use in the GMDSS search activity
to identify a station in distress situation. - Information provided
- a listing of all the notified and recorded call
signs - numerical identities of stations of the maritime
mobile and maritime mobile satellite service and
their corresponding stations.

15(N-MSD) List of International Monitoring
Stations (List VIII)
- Periodicity
- Printed at intervals determined by the Secretary
General, normally every five years - Updates printed in the Operational Bulletin.
- The List contains in a tabulated form
- particulars of monitoring stations of the
terrestrial radiocommunications services - Particulars of monitoring stations of space
radiocommunications service.
16(N-MSD) Alphabetical List of Call signs of
Stations other than Amateur Stations,
Experimental stations, and Stations of the
Maritime Mobile Service (List VIIB)
- This list contains the alphanumerical listing of
call signs of non-maritime stations operating
below 30MHz. -
- This List has become redundant as the information
it contains can now be retrieved from the IFIC.
The last WRC (2000) decided that the List be no
longer published.
