Teaching Experience
  • This is my eighth year as a classroom teacher.
  • I began in fifth grade here at Culbertson.
  • I taught fourth grade for three years in the
    William Penn School District at East Lansdowne
    Basics School.
  • Prior to coming to fifth grade this year, I
    taught first grade for three years (also here at
    Culbertson).

My Goals

How to help your child succeed in fifth grade
  • Read to your child
  • Provide materials and a quiet place to work
  • Set up a routine for your child to do his/her
    work
  • Talk to your child about his/her work
  • Expect your child to do his/her own work
  • Expect your child to produce quality work
  • Go over with your child his/her work regularly
  • Give your child suggestions to help him/her
    figure out how to succeed with his/her work
  • Help your child figure out where to go for help
  • Know the due dates of assignments, help your
    child to establish a plan to complete his/her
    work, and hold him/her accountable

  • Do the work for your child
  • Do actual things to improve your childs work.
    He/she needs to learn to do his/her own work.
  • Accept your childs excuses for not doing his/her
    work (on time and to quality)
  • Focus on grades..instead focus on learning
