All nurseries (43) Sure Start Childrens
Centres (17 by 2008) Child Minders (229) Parent
and toddler groups (49)
5What is required from the settings?
- Initial registration meeting
- Healthy Nurseries Committee
- Complete health audit
- Review of criteria, leading to action plan
- Support to complete action plan, and award
6How are we doing now?
Guidelines under changes and consultation with
pre-5 settings and partners Hope to launch
programme to all in September 8 settings involved
presently 2 future Childrens Centres, 2
private nurseries, 4 nursery schools.
7Who are we working with?
We are consulting with - nurseries engaged in
the programme, - council partners, - education
partners, - health partners.
8What do we hope to achieve?
We hope to - introduce young children and their
families to healthy practices early in life -
support as many settings as possible to promote
health to their wider community - ensure healthy
practice will soon become standard, and embedded
in nursery culture
