multi-service program with offices distributed
across 1 primary and 4 support sites
headquartered at the Air Force Electronic Systems
Center, Hanscom AFB, Bedford MA. Tasked w/
staffing, budget planning and execution,
development, production, testing and life-cycle
support for the AMF JTRS and common ancillary
equipment needed for full system operations to
operate in the 2 MHz-2 GHz frequency range,
provide reconfigurable waveform/network services
to deliver all Service and Joint Staff
requirements for voice, video, and data
communications in the airborne and maritime/fixed
station operational domains described in the JTRS
ORD. Within the Airborne domain, the system will
meet a wide variety of platform satellite and
tactical communications requirements across a
wide range of platform types, from unmanned
aerial vehicles to multi-position wide-body,
multi-role aircraft. In the Maritime/Fixed
Station domain, the ancillary components will
improve end-to-end tactical communications within
Navy fleet radio rooms and all Services fixed
station communication facilities by automating
radio room operations, providing modernized
cryptographic and key material handling,
enhancing network and system management
capabilities. The program recently completed a
180M, 2-year Technology Maturity and Risk
Reduction phase with 2 competing development
teams. Following a Milestone B review, the
program will move into full scale development in
the System Development and Demonstration phase of
the program life cycle.
