What is resource room?
  • A PLACE WHERE YOUR CHILD CAN
  • Keep track of assignments (both daily and
    long-term)
  • Prepare for upcoming tests
  • Receive small group instruction
  • Receive reinforcement of concepts presented in
    mainstream classes
  • Work on organizational skills

  • Complete supplied review sheets for tests

How parents can help
  • Encourage and check use of assignment book each
    night
  • Monitor homework, projects and study time
  • Provide study area
  • E-mail classroom teacher and resource teacher as
    soon as you have a concern. Dont wait!
  • Please inform us of any new problems that may
    affect academic performance.
  • Encourage participation in after-school tutoring
    program

Basic Retesting Guidelines
  • College / Tech Prep
  • - Math correct errors on test grades below 70
    if 80 of assignments are completed
  • - Other subjects retest without teacher
    assistance using notes and books on failing
    grades if 80 of assignments (homework/ class
    work) are completed
  • General Level
  • Math correct errors on test grades below 70 if
    75 of assignments are completed
  • Other subjects retest with teacher assistance
    using notes and books on failing grades if 75 of
    assignments (homework / class work) are
    completed

IEP Reevaluations
  • Occur once a year
  • IEP team consists of special learning teacher,
    guidance counselor, mainstream teacher, parent
    and student
  • IEP can be revisited to address major concerns
  • College-bound students must have updated
    psychological testing during their junior or
    senior year
  • ER is renewed once every three years
