13- Concerns of Minnesota Hockey
- Attrition rates for players, coaches, and
referees are increasing. (Statistics suggest up
to 70 of players quit hockey by the age of 13). - Skill development and fun are sometimes placed
second to winning. - Emphasis on winning has taken the game away from
the players. - Aggressiveness of parents
- Coaching Expertise
- In response to this concern, Minnesota Hockey has
developed a new, innovative program to help give
the game back to the kids. The Hockey Education
Program (HEP) includes skill development for
players, education for coaches and parents, and
accountability for all stakeholders in hockey
today. - We encourage all players and parents to visit
www.minnesotahockey.org and learn more about HEP.
Also, we may be able to obtain further materials
from our ACE Coordinator, if interested.
