Identifying Outlet Types

• What is an outlet?
• An outlet is defined as any point of sale or
  provision of a commodity to an individual
• Outlets are not restricted to stationary points
  of sale and may include mobile units or
  individuals

• What types of outlets do you think will sell
  antimalarials?
• Will these outlet types vary by rural or urban
  areas?
• What other differences might you expect?

Categories of Outlets We Will Visit in this Study

• All of the outlets that you visit for this study
  will fall into one of these 5 main categories
• 1) Public health facilities
• 2) Registered (Part One) Pharmacies
• 3) Drug shops
• 4) Grocery stores
• 5) Informal outlets
