  • The main influence of the culture come from
    ideas such as Confucianism and Taoism, and
    Buddhism
  • Art, music, philosophy and poetry play major
    roles in Chinese culture.

  • Chinese art varied depending on the dynasty at
    the time, like how art is Victorian or
    Elizabethan
  • The first art in China is found during the
    Neolithic period in which pottery and jade used
    often.
  • Later on Chinas main sculptural type of art
    became porcelain around 1st century AD. Around
    the Han period

  • Chinese Architecture began reached heights when
    Buddhism arrived around the time of the Sui And
    Tang dynasties, around 600-700AD.
  • This architecture was inspired through art period
    from Gupta.

    and harmony in thought and conduct
  • Taoism emphasizes the simplicity of life and the
    idea of not interfering with the natural order of
    life.
  • Buddhism- Stresses how life is full of suffering
    caused by desire, so in order to achieve
    fulfillment is through cessation of desire,
    enlightenment

  • Chinese poetry is influenced mostly by the ideas
    of their religious thought.
  • Li pos specifically is influenced by Taoism
  • Li po likes to expresses thought on his
    interactions with nature, his friendships, love
    for wine, and acute observations in life. He also
    refletced on the hardships of people

Drinking Alone Under the Moon

  • Foot binding is when at age 6 girls have there
    feet bound with tape so strong they could not
    grow much longer. Because small feet are
    attractive.

  • Largest celebrated Chinese holiday.
  • The festival begins on the first day of the year
    there is a lunar month and ends on the 15th.
  • Celebrated by countries influenced by Han
    culture.
  • Every year is assigned an animal 2007 year is the
    pig. So the children will be happy and honest.
