What is the Passport to Leadership Certificate
program?

• The program is designed to be a build your own
  management development plan
• The program is geared toward current leaders who
  manage others
• The certificate requires the leader to complete a
  pre-requisite course, a leadership case study, 4
  core courses and 2 electives
• All courses are based on a set of core leadership
  competencies identified by President Schmidly

How to Begin the Program

• Leaders should discuss development needs with
  their supervisor
• Leaders need to complete a Declaration of
  Commitment form and forward it to EOD
• Once forms are received in EOD, leaders progress
  toward completion of courses will be tracked and
  reminders will be sent to the leader and
  supervisor
• Leaders can register for courses via the Learning
  Central website category Leadership Series at
  https//learningcentral.health.unm.edu/plateau/use
  r/login.jsp

What Happens Upon Completion of the Classes?

• Participants in the program have 1 year from
  submission of the Declaration of Commitment to
  complete all program requirements
• Upon completion of all certificate requirements
  leaders must complete a Letter of Completion form
  and forward to EOD
• EOD will verify all Passport to Leadership
  requirements have been met
• Upon verification, the leader will be scheduled
  to receive his/her certificate at the next
  Dean/Director Summit

How Much Does the Program Cost?

• There is no charge for participating in the
  Passport to Leadership program
• The only charge will be if leaders no show
  after registering for a course
• A 25 no show fee will be charged to the
  department for core and elective courses
• A 50 no show fee will be charged for pre/post
  requisite courses

Can Several Leaders From the Same Department Come
to a Class?

• Leaders can reserve a seat in any of the passport
  courses
• Intact teams of leaders can reserve several seats
• To reserve seats, leaders should contact EOD at
  277-1555

Benefits of the Program

• All leaders who complete the certificate program
  will receive a framed certificate and
  acknowledged at the Dean/Director Summit
• The best benefit is the knowledge, skills, and
  abilities the leader will gain by participating
  in the program
