The National Dental Nurse Training Programme

• Developed as a joint initiative between DDSH
  CUDH
• Specifically designed to meet the needs of the
  general dental community
• Successful completion of this programme will
  permit entry onto a voluntary Register for Dental
  Nurses with the Dental Council of Ireland

Course Overview

• The aim of this course is to provide the
  practicing dental nurse with practical skills
  supported by the theoretical knowledge for the
  understanding of the role of the dental nurse as
  part of the dental team

Course Duration

• Eighteen month evening programme commencing in
  January until June of the following year
• Combined with eighteen months of practical
  experience gained in your workplace

Course Awards

• In order to achieve your award, students must
• Successfully pass all required assessments and
  examinations
• Submit a completed log book
• Complete 18 months chair-side experience
• Hold a recognized Basic Life Support in CPR for
  the Health Care Provider
• Have an overall attendance of 80 in each module

Attendance

• Lecture times are 630 pm 930 pm. You are
  required to attend during these times some
  lectures may not take the full time slot be
  prepared to stay until 930pm
• Videoconferencing equipment will be set- up in
  the venue between 600pm and 630pm

July Clinical Week

• The majority of the dental nurses clinical
  training will take place in the dental practice
• An intensive work shop on all clinical practices
  will take place for one week in July (check
  timetable for dates)
• Attendance at this workshop is essential
