2Foreword
- In 1996 a decision was made to create a register
of all biogas plants and landfill gas collection
stations in Finland. To contribute to the use of
biogas, the Finnish Biogas Association and the
University of Joensuu as a joint work have
gathered statistical data of the biogas
production and landfill gas recovery in Finland.
The results of the studies have been published
annually as Suomen biokaasulaitosrekisteri
(Finnish Biogas Plant Register) starting from
1998. Until now there are 9 registers published,
the 9th one was published in June 2006.
Preparation of the annual reports and collection
of the data has been carried out by Ville
Kuittinen, Markku J. Huttunen and Simo Leinonen.
The ongoing project has been financed previously
by the Finnish Ministry of the Environment,
Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Finnish
Biogas Association as well as many enterprises
working with biogas and biogas plants. Presently,
the project is mainly financed by the Finnish
Environment Institute.
