ATTENDANCE
  • Greenville-Weston High School has a high
regard for attendance. We believe that school
attendance and time spent in study have a
    significant relationship to achievement. In
compliance with state policy, a child must be in
attendance 95 of the time for the school year in
order to receive academic credit. If a child is
absent more than 5 then an attendance hearing
must be held. The hearing officers decision
will be final. If one chooses not to attend the
hearing, the child will automatically be
retained. Chronic absences will be reported to
    the proper county authorities

19
Tardiness
  • Tardy to School
  • A student who arrives to school after the first
block tardy bell will receive a tardy admittance
slip before reporting to first block. The
classroom teacher will record the tardy in the
grade book. Failure to report to class will
result in an unauthorized absence from class.

20
Tardiness
  • Car trouble, personal and/or family errands,
failure to awaken, failure to be awakened by a
family member, or a family member assuming
responsibility for a late arrival to school or to
the first scheduled class are not examples of an
    excused tardy.
  • A student will be allowed four (4) tardies to
school or to the first scheduled class.

21
Tardiness
  • Consequences for excessive tardies are as
    follows
  • 1st Excessive Tardy After-school Detention

  • 3rd Excessive Tardy In-School Suspension, 1 day
  • 4th Excessive Tardy In-School Suspension, 2

Student Conduct Proper discipline is an
essential element of an effective educational
program. During all school activities, students
shall conduct themselves in a manner that
contributes to the accomplishments of the
educational purposes of the school.
24
Halls Any student in the hall during class shall
have a valid pass. The student will present the
pass to any administrator, teacher, staff member,
or security officer upon request. Students
absent from class without a valid pass will be
considered truant. Students are to walk on the
right side of the hall while passing to and from
classes ensuring the steady flow of traffic.
Students behavior in the hall should orderly and
respect should be shown for their peers and
adults at all times. Students whose behavior is
unacceptable will be corrected by the nearest
adult. Unacceptable behavior includes but is not
limited to the use of profanity, touching another
student/adult, or general disrespect or
disruptions.
25
  • CAFETERIA
  • GWHS will operate an orderly lunch this year. In
order to maintain this privilege, please adhere
    to the following guidelines
  • No running in the halls
  • No cutting in lines
  • No one is allowed to leave campus
  • Students should only be in the cafeteria,
    courtyard, or turnaround circle
  • Keep the courtyard and cafeteria clean and safe.

26
OFFICE PROCEDURES The school office is for
business. When a student has business in the
office, he should give the secretary his name,
the name of the person he wishes to see and the
general nature of business, and be seated. When
the student can be seen, he will be escorted to
the proper office. At times, it will be
impossible for the student to be seen. The
student will be requested to return to class and
wait to be called to the office.
27
OFFICE PROCEDURES A student sent to the office
for misbehavior will wait until he has been seen
by the administrator. Failure to report to the
office for disciplinary reasons may result in
additional consequences. Students will not
loiter in the office. No student is to come
behind the counter in the office unless invited
by a staff member.
28
ZERO TOLERANCE
Violence is unacceptable at anytime for any
reason. Here at the Greenville Campus of
Greenville-Weston High School anyone that fights,
incites a fight, or watches a fight will be
subject to disciplinary actions up to or
including suspension for the remainder of the
year.
29
Hornet Cup
  • The Hornet Cup will be a system of athletic and
    academic competition intended to inspire
community pride and a spirit of healthy and
    honest competition at Greenville-Weston High
School. The winner of the cup will be determined
by an accumulation of points awarded/deducted
    through various categories.

30
Hornet Cup
  • In case of a tie, a category will be eliminated
by alphabetical order (starting with A then
descending) until a winner has been decided. If
this cannot determine a winner then a popular
vote from all communities not in contention will
    determine the winner.

31
Hornet Cup
  • 6 ft Cup
  • Plaque where winning community will be added
    annually
  • Medals for community members
  • Discount for next school year to school events
  • Community Day at the end of the year (Movie,
block party, free dance, subsidized field trip or
    other similar event).
