Requirements for mmW WPAN channel allocation and
frame format
  • Support of very broadband transmission in
    selective channels
  • Support of various applications whose required
    data rate is changed widely
  • Coexistence of digital communication channels and
    through repeated channels

Concept of channel allocation for mmW WPAN
  • Multiple sub-carrier channels based on FDMA/TDMA
    coexistence format
  • Common standardized access channels based on
    time-synchronized multi-carrier TDMA
  • Optional FDM/FDMA extension channels, in which
    digital channels and through-repeated channels
    coexist

Frame format of common standardized channel
  • Frame format of Common Standardized access
    channels is basically based on 802.15 MAC frame
  • PNC allocates not only contention free time slot
    but also optional FDM/FDMA extension channel to
    DEV on demand
  • All the information about channel allocation is
    broadcasted in the initiation of contention free
    period
