Global Trade Item Number Industry numbering

Universal Product Code each product will have
at least one unique GTIN (UPC) if we intend to
sell it.
UPC
Sell UoM
The unit of measure in which a product is sold to
a customer.

Case Pack Terms
Case Pack
The purchased unit which contains a specified
quantity (previously, H-E-Bs Master Pack).
Case Pack ID
A unique alpha numeric code provided by the
Vendor to represent a unique Case Pack
(previously H-E-Bs Vendor Product Code).
Buy UoM
The unit of measure in which a product is
purchased from a Vendor.
Inner Pack
A packing unit inside a Case Pack.
A unique number that represents the packing unit
inside a Case Pack (previously H-E-Bs Item Code).

Shipper
A shipper is a self-contained unit that we buy.
It contains products with more than one UPC. It
is typically used to get new product to the floor
quickly in a display before shelf space is
available. If a unit contains products with all
the same UPCs, it is a considered a Case Pack.

Terminology Summary

• A product sits on the shelf and is what the
  customer buys. Each product has a unique GTIN or
  UPC.

• We may buy the same product from different
  vendors. We buy products by the Case Pack. Each
  Vendor may supply H-E-B with different Case Packs
  that contain the same product.

• Each Case Pack will have Inner Packs. Typically
  stores order Inner Packs from the warehouse.
  There can be numerous Selling Units per Inner
  Pack.

• A Shipper is somewhat different. We buy a
  Shipper from a Vendor but a Shipper will contain
  products with different UPCs. If a Shipper
  contains products with the same UPC, it is not a
  Shipper. Its a Case Pack.

• 1. Case Pack Maintenance Form
• Use to add or update a Case Pack of a product
  already existing in the H-E-B system.
• 2. Discontinue Case Pack Form
• Use to notify H-E-B of discontinued Case Packs.
• Direct Store Delivery Cost Change Form
• Use to submit a cost change to a Case Pack.
  Cost Justification Form must also be completed.
• 4. Promotion/Trade Event Form
• Use to submit promotion information for a Case
  Pack.

New Merchandising System Forms Always look for
the latest update by looking in the bottom right
corner of form for the date. Instructions for
each form are on a separate tab at the bottom of
the Excel spreadsheet. Just click on the tab
name. Forms will be added to the Forms web
site. Always look for New Merchandising
System. The forms will also be provided in the
Supplier work area.

submitted via e-mail. Complete the form
online Save as (rename file suggested file
name is vendor name and date) Attach new file
to e-mail (suggested subject line is vendor name
and form name) Please contact H-E-B if you have
any questions.
