What RAD Achieved in 2005
  • worked with over 20 Deaf Clubs and other self
    help groups of Deaf people, contributing to the
    lives of 1500 Deaf people
  • answered more than 3000 general enquiries and
    gave 4000 hours of specialist advice
  • did 13500 hours of sign language interpretation
  • ran 6 youth clubs, and out of school activities
    for 67 Deaf youngsters

What RAD Achieved in 2005
  • supported 267 deaf people with learning
    disabilities living independent lives of which
    32 are now living independently in the community
  • worked with 120 Deaf people from ethnic
    minorities
  • started a new service aimed at improving the
    employment of Deaf people
  • welcomed the staff of Brent Deaf Peoples Group
  • achieved a Board of Trustees that is Deaf led.

Improving Centres in 2004/5
  • RAD spent 70,000 on Centres
  • West Ham Deaf Club and Romford Deaf Club each
    spent about 8,000 on improvements to their
    kitchens
  • Southend Fundraising Committee raised over
    25,000 for a new extension which is now built

  • Make our Learning Disability service the best in
    London and the Southeast
  • Become a leading service in Mental Health
  • Grow the Interpreting Service, and develop a
    partnership to train new interpreters

    Gillingham to Colchester (around end of 2005)

  • Rebuild the Green Lanes Centre (875,000)
  • Buy the freehold of Clapham Centre (440,000 plus
    legal costs)
  • Find a new Centre in Medway (but keep the Medway
    Centre until we find a better one)

  • Raise 45,000 to upgrade the toilets in St
    Saviours to provide wheelchair access
  • Study the use of all centres to make sure we are
    not wasting money keeping unwanted or unused
    centres

  • GROWTH lots of new work, new challenges, new
    opportunities, strains and stresses
  • Possibly more mergers with other organisations
  • Possibly extend our work into other places
