  heat pump and how it works.

What is a Heat pump?

• A heat pump is a device which moves hot air from
  one place to another.

Two main parts of a heat pump

• Outdoor unit
• Outdoor heat exchanger
• Compressor and a fan
• Indoor unit
• Indoor heat exchanger
• A fan that distributes heated or cooled air to
  the duct system of the house.

How does a Heat Pump Work?

• Outdoor Unit

Refrigerant (a low-temperature liquid) collects
heat and changes to a low pressure,
low-temperature vapour
Air passes over outdoor coil
Vapour turns into a high pressure,
high-temperature vapour.
Vapour passes through a compressor.

How does a Heat Pump Work?

• Indoor Unit

Vapour absorbs heat from the coil
Hot vapour circulates into the indoor coil
The warmed air is then redistributed through the
duct system

Conclusion

• A heat pump is made out of an outdoor and indoor
  unit.
• Works on the fact that any air, even outside air
  during the winter, contains heat.
