governments as well
  • Estonians that have studied in Finland and Finns
    that have studied in Estonia form a significant
    resource in the co-operation between these two
    countries. They have a deep knowledge on the
    culture, economy and other sectors of life of the
    study country. They have formed networks based on
    friendship that may play significant role in
    future.

Basic problems in student mobility
  • Financing for Estonians
  • living costs, residence permit requirements
  • New phenomena - wrong measures?
  • visiting students and whole degree - not exhange,
    small number of PhD
  • Prejudices, lack of attractivness

What could be done?
  • Scholarships
  • for Estonians to study in Finland (accomodation
    and living costs)
  • for Finns to BA/MA studies, for PhD degree!
  • Positive publicity
  • stress the importance of students in two
    countries relations. Role of politicians and
    media?
  • support to student organizations
