4G3G for ITU IMT-2000Technical Specification
- Harmonized DS and MC will be based on WCDMA and
CDMA2000, respectively - Inter base station synchronization
- Forward link pilot structure
- Chip rate
- 3.84 Mcps for Direct Spread
- 3.6864 Mcps for Multi Carrier
- 3.84 Mcps for Time Division Duplex
- RF parameters
5G3G for ITU IMT-2000Phased Harmonization Approach
- Hooks and Extension
- Phase 1 three radio layers and hooks to meet
Release 99 of 3GPP and 3GPP2 - Phase 2 completion of extension to fully support
ANSI41 and GSM
6Requirements for Video Services
- Use of existing standards opposed to develop new
video coding/conferencing standards - Transcoding/Interworking Functions
- Source Codec One mandatory and optional mode(s)
rather than transcoding - System Issue New system rather than Interworking
function (e.g., H.323-to-mobile H.323 rather than
H.323-to-H.324M) - Synchronization
- Intramedia synchronization
- Intermedia synchronization
- Impact of video on existing low layers shall be
minimized. However, by-passing video data to
upper layer is recommended for better error
handling
7Requirements - Impact of Video over 3G
Need selection of options Might need change Might
be influenced by video media

Un-Reliable Delivery

Physical Layer
8Requirements for Video Services
- Advanced charging issues
- total connecting time
- total number of correct packets received
- any new method with or without combination of the
two previous methods - Mandatory/optional recommendations in video
encoder and decoder - Encoder side coding options for error resilience
- Decoder side capability to decode certain coding
options, error detection, error concealment - Informative Implementation Guide
- Error resilience against burst error that most of
current commercial chipsets do not handle
Average bit error rate seen by video decoder
should be below about O(10-4), though decoder
should not crash when presented with very high
bit error rate (approximately .5). - Minimization of error propagation using INTRA
update and/or effective error concealment - Mandatory aspects in decoder side
9Candidate Video Services over 3GPP/3GPP2
- H.323 (Mobile version H.323) based Packet Video
Service - Real time video conferencing
- Real time one-way video streaming
- Non-real time video streaming
10Candidate Video Services over 3GPP/3GPP2
- H.324M based Circuit Video Service
- Real time video conferencing
