What is the Continuous Improvement Fund?
  • Agreement between WDO, AMO, Toronto Stewardship
    Ontario as part of the Blue Box Program Plan
  • Incentive fund to encourage effectiveness
    efficiency
  • Only for blue box programs initiatives
  • 20 of of stewards annual financial obligation
    to municipalities
  • Currently a 3 year funding agreement

Recycling / IWM Plans
  • WDO will be reducing funding for municipalities
    starting in 2010
  • 2008 Datacall 150 programs do not have a plan
  • CIF will develop a base level plan template
  • CIF guidelines (draft) include
  • Funding up to 75 of cost of plan (maximum
    15,000) for first time programs
  • Up to 90 for cooperative plan development
  • CIF will proactively engage programs for plan
    development

MRF Upgrades
  • Invest in upgrading MRF infrastructure and
    operations
  • New energy efficiency evaluation and
    upgrades(ESCO program)
  • Plastics, plastics, plastics
  • Increasing capacity to process material from
    other municipalities

  • Co-operative purchasing of pails
  • Additional PE incentives available

  • Implementation of Best Practice
  • Project 192 PE Planning for Small Programs
  • Develop a basic customizable template PE plan
  • Development of sample PE pieces for use by
    programs
  • Provide funding to small programs for
    advertising/media buys to promote blue box
  • Potential for a provincial media buy for blue box
